SPARTANBURG –This year the Presbyterian baseball team has taken on Wofford three times and won all three. The first two were in Clinton.
On Wednesday the Blue Hose bused to Russell C. King Field and edged the Terriers in 10 innings, 7-6.
A fly-ball double play from Nick Guimbarda preserved the victory. Wofford had scored a run on a wild pitch when Guimbarda in right field helped Austin Paradis earn his first career save.
PC (15-18) got two hits apiece from Guimbarda, Jimmy Marcelli and Jonathan White. Brett Rodriguez, Hudson Byorick, John Dempsey and Matty Brown each had two hits for Wofford (21-13).
Johnny Cook (2-1) was the winning pitcher. Rasesh Pandya (2-2) took the loss.
Marcelli now has a team-high 12 multi-hit games while White is one behind with 11 multi-hit contests.
PC jumped on Wofford in the 10thinning. Marcelli lined a single through the left side to take a 6-5 lead before White hit a double to left field to make it 7-5.
The Blue Hose return to Big South action,but continue to play in Spartanburg, on Friday when they travel to USC Upstate to begin a three-game series. Friday’s game is slated for a 7 p.m. first pitch.
