SPARTANBURG – In the opener of a Big South baseball series, Presbyterian got on the board quickly and let up in an 8-0 victory over USC Upstate on Friday night at Harley Park.
PC (16-18, 8-5 conference) has won five game in a row for the first time since April 8-14, 2- Eric Miles (5-2) was dominant once again as he tossed seven shutout innings while he scattered six hits and struck out seven Spartans. Jordan Marks (3-5) took the loss.
Center fielder Zacchaeus Rasberry and second baseman Jimmy Marcelli led the bats, each with a pair of hits in the victory. Rasberry connected on his third home run of the season in the eighth inning. This was the sixth home run to lead off an inning this season.
Presbyterian has hit home runs in five consecutive games by five different players that have resulted in five victories.
Designated hitter J.J. Shimko was the only Upstate batter with two hits.
The Blue Hosewere set to continue their three-game series with the Spartans on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader set to begin at 2 p.m. in Spartanburg.
