NORTH CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern surged past Presbyterian in the sixth and seventh innings of Thursday’s night’s Big South baseball game between the two, won by the Buccaneers, 10-5.

The Blue Hose led, 5-4, after a four-run top of the fourth inning.

CSU responded with an RBI double in the fifth to even the game up. The Buccaneers regained the lead with a two-run shot in the sixth to take a 7-5 lead. The hosts pushed their lead out in the seventh with a two-run single. CSU added an RBI single in the eighth to push the lead its final margin.

Ryan Stoudemire and Max Ryerson homered for the Bucs.

Presbyterian was led offensively by Zacchaeus Rasberry, Jonathan White, Jimmy Marcelli and Michael Varga. Each had a pair of hits.

White hit his third home run of the season in the fourth inning. Ashby Smith led the second inning off with a solo home run for his fourth long ball of the season.

Seth Owens (3-4) was the winning pitcher, and R.J. Petit was credited with his fifth save. With his eight strikeouts in a losing cause on Thursday night, Miles (6-4) moved into seventh in the Blue Hose Division I record book with 164 in his career.

Presbyterian (27-27, 14-11 conference) continues its three-game series at Charleston Southern (21-32, 11-14) on Friday night at 6.
