Kevin Boyce Patterson of Clinton was charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, and pointing and presenting a firearm on Thursday after an officer-involved shooting at Laurens County Memorial Hospital.

The incident occurred early Thursday morning. The suspect and a Greenville Health Authority police officer were wounded.

A State Law Enforcement Division investigation was requested by the GHA Police Department.

Patterson, 27, was booked at Johnson Detention Center, and the case will be prosecuted by the Eighth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

The arrest warrants state “that on April 11, 2019, in the county of Laurens, one Kevin Boyce Patterson did unlawfully and not in self-defense point a firearm at the victim at the GHS Laurens County Hospital. Probable cause based on SLED Investigation, video surveillance, and victim statement,” and,

“by shooting a firearm at the victim … with the intent to kill … with malice aforethought,” and that the victim “sustained a gunshot wound during the incident.”
