In its second game of the Dixie Youth O-Zone (11-12 age group) state baseball tournament, the Clinton All-Stars turned the tables on Sunday.
Completely. Almost exactly.
Clinton, thanks in part to three hits and a home run by both Rylan Bagwell and Zane McLendon, defeated Greenwood 11-0 a day after North Myrtle Beach prevailed over Clinton by the same score. McLendon also had a double.
Bagwell, McLendon and Carson Glenn each scored three times. Seven different players collected hits, totaling 11, and Caleb Taylor and McLendon combined to limit Greenwood to one hit. Taylor, who pitched all but the final out, struck out 10. Greenwood’s only hit was a leadoff double by B.J. McLaughlin in the second inning.
Clinton scored four runs in the first inning and added seven in the fourth.
Bagwell’s home run led off the fourth, and McLendon’s was a two-out, two-run blast later in that frame.
Neither team committed an error.
Next up? Lancaster on Monday at 6 p.m., also at Timken Sports Complex in Union.
