Playing the District 1 Little League Majors tournament at home, Laurens wrapped up the championship with a pair of victories.

Both games ended on Tuesday at Laurens City Park. Rain washed out Monday’s scheduled contest with L3 leading Easley, 12-1, in the fourth inning. Not much changed on Tuesday as L3 wound up winning 12-2, led by Coleman Coker, See Suber and Josh Goodwin with two hits apiece and Coker driving in three.

Jaheen Copeland was the winning pitcher.

Laurens then blanked the same Easley team 15-0 to wrap up the district title in only three innings. L3 scored seven runs in the second inning and eight in the third. Goodwin led the way with two hits and two RBI. Buster Harris belted a two-run homer.

Jarred Willard went the distance on the hill, walking only one and striking out six.

Meanwhile, in Edgefield, Clinton has two shots to win one game and wrap up the Dixie Youth 3A Minors district championship.

In a game marred by a protest and a rain delay, Clinton wound up defeating Starr-Iva 11-1. Dalton Williams completed what Talan Campbell started on Monday. It was over in four innings.

Williams rapped three hits in as many at-bats, also driving in three. Campbell and Aiden Price each drove in a pair. Owen Glenn scored three runs and walked twice.

Clinton can wrap up the title by defeating Batesburg-Leesville at 6 p.m. Wednesday. If B-L prevails a second game will be played at approximately 8.

Edgefield won the Dixie Youth O-Zone district title, blanking Clinton, 13-0. Walks (7) and errors (4) were Clinton’s undoing.

Clinton’s four hits came from Kason Copeland, Tushawn Richardson, Jayden Glenn and

Lee Malone.
