Laurens pitched a shutout in the junior varsity football game at J.L. Mann on Thursday night.

The Raiders won, 37-0.

Cayson Elledge provided the first score on a 3-yard run, followed by Jay Pulley’s 58-yard punt return for a score. Gemere Darden scored from 25 yards out for the third score, and the Raiders took a 28-0 lead on James Rawl’s 35-yard pass to Elledge.

In the second half, Isaiah Craig raced 75 yards for a score, and the final two points came as a result of Mark Hattaway making an end-zone tackle for a safety.

In middle-school football, Laurens Middle claimed a nail-biter, 6-0, in Greenwood at Westview. K.D. Mosley scored a lone touchdown that wasn’t cheap, an 80-yard run. Jasiah Williams’ late interception sealed the outcome. The Tigers are 4-2.

Hickory Tavern defeated Gray Court-Owings, 44-30, led by Nick Fowler’s three touchdowns.

For the Panthers, Nick Fowler scored on runs of 33 and 32 yards, and Tylan Fowler provided a 4-yard score that had been set up by his own 52-yard run. Tylan Fowler also scored on a 15-yard run, and Maddox Holtzclaw scored on a 17-yard ramble. Nick Fowler then added his third scoring run on a TD from seven yards out.

For the Tigers, Terry Cunningham had a 5-yard touchdown. Gonzalo Morales broke off a 61-yard dash. Cunningham threw a 65-yard TD pass to Damien Nance. Nance also scored on a 65-yard kickoff return.

Another Greenwood school, Northside, blanked Sanders, 58-0.

It was not a good night for the Clinton Middle teams. Yet another Greenwood school, Brewer, knocked the eighth-grade Red Devils from the unbeaten ranks with a 28-20 victory. In a losing causes, the Wildcats’ Bryce Young threw two touchdown passes, and Kaiden Crawford tossed a third.

Ewing, of Gaffney, shut out the CMS seventh graders, 38-0.

Greenwood Christian defeated Laurens Academy’s middle-school team, 38-8.

Edgewood won a tight, back-and-forth, volleyball match over Laurens Middle School on Wednesday in Greenwood.

The 3-2 match score translated to: 23-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-12, 8-15.

Adriana Diaz led LMS in both digs, 10, and aces, 6. Emma liner and Bailey Thomason also had 5 aces. Madelyn Shockley and Calesha Sullivan were able to get 3 kills each against the Titans.

Oakbrook Prep defeated Laurens Academy’s varsity volleyball squad, 3-0, but the middle-school team won, 2-0, and improved to 17-1, undefeated in region play.
