A two-run, two-out double by Boiling Spring’s No. 9 batter, Davis Starnes, enabled the Bulldogs to defeat Laurens 8-6 on Wednesday night at Ed Prescott Field.

The Raiders, who had tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, couldn’t keep the game alive in spite of Aidan Pridgen’s leadoff single in the seventh.

Jalen Bragg’s three-run homer in the third got LDHS back in the game after Boiling Springs scored twice in both the first and the third.

Heath Bragg collected three singles in four at-bats. Kobe Williams had two hits, and Tanner Smith scored twice.

Dawson Taylor and Bryson Mitchell each had two of the Bulldogs’ eight hits. Blake Hamsmann was the winning pitcher; Jalen Bragg took the loss.

After multiple postponements, Laurens Academy finally got its home opener in on Wednesday. That bad news was that Shannon Forest blanked LA 8-0.

Shannon Forest scored in four of the five innings played, though both teams collected six hits. The Shannon Forest Crusaders took advantage of four errors by the opposition Crusaders, who were led by Dawson Foster with two hits in as many at-bats.
