Skylar Rehwinkel and Madison Bagwell each scored twice as Clinton edged Laurens 4-3 in girls’ soccer at LDHS on Wednesday.
The Red Devils won for the second time against the Raiders.
Bagwell also added an assist on one of Rehwinkel’s goals.
This is officially Clinton’s first season of girls’ soccer. The Red Devils fielded a junior varsity team last spring while making a transition from girls’ lacrosse to soccer.
A two-run, two-out double by Boiling Spring’s No. 9 batter, Davis Starnes, enabled the Bulldogs to defeat Laurens 8-6 on Wednesday night at Ed Prescott Field.
The Raiders, who had tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, couldn’t keep the game alive in spite of Aidan Pridgen’s leadoff single in the seventh.
Jalen Bragg’s three-run homer in the third got LDHS back in the game after Boiling Springs scored twice in both the first and the third.
Heath Bragg collected three singles in four at-bats. Kobe Williams had two hits, and Tanner Smith scored twice.
Dawson Taylor and Bryson Mitchell each had two of the Bulldogs’ eight hits. Blake Hamsmann was the winning pitcher; Jalen Bragg took the loss.
After multiple postponements, Laurens Academy finally got its home opener in on Wednesday. That bad news was that Shannon Forest blanked LA 8-0.
Shannon Forest scored in four of the five innings played, though both teams collected six hits. The Shannon Forest Crusaders took advantage of four errors by the opposition Crusaders, who were led by Dawson Foster with two hits in as many at-bats.
Red Devil boys’ tennis improved to 2-0 with a 6-1 victory over Broome.

Woodruff won a home golf match over Clinton and Union County. The Wolverines totaled 154, the Red Devils 168 and the Yellow Jackets 174.
The individual competition was fierce. Woodruff’s Brasington was the medalist with a 37, but three others, Zoey and Sofia Carles for Clinton and Alexander of Union, carded 38s.
Other Clinton scores were Javi Carles 49, Mathew McKittrick 54 and Jaylin Steele 61.
