Cold weather, along with absent athletes, factored into the Raider track and field team placing 17th out of 21 teams in the Chick-Fil-A Games at Eastside High in Taylors.
Zy Todd was the lone individual placer for the Raiders Saturday, finishing third in the 110-meter high hurdles. The boys 4x800 relay team placed eighth in its race.
As a team, Laurens scored seven points, placing 17th out of 21 schools.
The Raiders compete at LDHS on Tuesday in a meet featuring Clinton, McCormick, and Abbeville, beginning at 5 p.m.
The Laurens girls also scored seven points in the same meet, finishing 21st of 28.
Andrea Choice was the top placer for the ladies. She finished fourth in the 100 hurdles and seventh in the 200-meter dash.
The best way to characterize Clinton soccer is a competitive 0-2.
A talented Dixie squad defeated the Red Devils, 5-3, in Due West.
Luke Mann tied the game 1-1, but the Hornets responded to take a 3-1 lead at halftime, with both additional goals on penalty kicks (and three in the match). Both teams scored twice in the second half.
