BLACKVILLE – Laurens Academy quarterback Thomas Lowry threw six touchdown passes, but it was far from enough to prevent powerful Jefferson Davis Academy from running away in the second half of an 83-44 win over the Crusaders.

Lowry’s third touchdown pass was his 50th career score, either by pass or run.

Laurens Academy (2-6) remained within range for a half, trailing 38-24 after Lowry hit Dawson Foster, Charlton McCall and Cal Robertson on scoring strikes. The last was a 55-yarder.

Jefferson Davis (8-1) scored 29 points in the third quarter, but the Crusaders’ offense continued to produce points, though not fast enough to stay in range.

Lowry threw two more second-half touchdown passes of 45 and 38 yards. The Crusaders also had a six-yard rushing score.
