District 56 sees decrease in performance on latest report card

South Carolina’s state report cards for public schools have been released with a new look this year. Beginning with the 2018 report cards, each school will receive an overall performance rating as well as a rating for seven out of 10 reported indicators.

The overall rating for schools is based on a 100-point scale, and factors in a school’s performance on the seven indicators which are rated.

Laurens County School District 56 is encouraged by the baseline data reported on the school report card. Four out of our five schools either met or exceeded the criteria to ensure all students meet the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. One school, Clinton Middle School, failed to meet the criteria to ensure all students meet this profile.

Highlights of School Report Cards:

Clinton Elementary received an overall “Good” rating, which indicates that school performance exceeds the criteria to ensure all students meet the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.

Eastside Elementary, Joanna-Woodson Elementary, and Clinton High School received an overall “Average” rating, which indicates that school performance meets the criteria to ensure all students meet the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.

Clinton Elementary and Eastside Elementary received a “Good” rating for Student Progress. This indicator measures how students in each school are making progress in reading, writing, and math as compared to their peers statewide.

Clinton Middle School and Clinton High School received a “Good” rating for School Quality. This indicator measures the quality of the student experience as measured by the AdvancED student engagement survey.

Clinton High School received a “Good” rating for College and Career Ready. This indicator measures if students graduating from high school are prepared for college or careers after their graduation. There are college-ready and career-ready indicators that students must meet to be included in the count.
