Clinton DPS to get new fire truck, on-body cameras

A home was destroyed in a fire that occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday morning in Clinton.

At 12:39 a.m. on July 6, the Clinton Fire Department was notified of a structure fire at 202 Dixon Street. Firefighters were informed that multiple callers relayed similar information. Crews arrived at the scene at 12:40 and found the house to be fully consumed in fire. The roof collapsed into the house shortly after firefighters arrived.

Clinton, Joanna and Sandy Springs fire departments brought the fire under control, and Cross Hill, Mountville and Renno fire departments assisted with water shuttle.

Clinton Fire remained on scene until approximately 7 a.m. to ensure the fire and all hot spots were completely extinguished.

The house was a total loss, but no injuries or loss of life occurred, according to Clinton Fire Chief Phillip Russell.
