Playoff time is upon us, and it’s not without complications.
Clinton High School’s softball team is playoff-bound, but Monday will determine where and against whom. The Red Devils and Emerald Vikings finished the Region 3-3A regular season tied for third place and will meet each other in a “play-in” at Laurens District High School on Monday at 6 p.m. The winner will be seeded third and the loser fifth.
Consecutive final-week losses to Easley left the Laurens baseball team in a three-way tie for fourth place with the Green Wave and Westside. Five Region 1-5A teams qualify for the playoffs. Easley defeated Laurens twice and split with Westside. Westside split with Laurens. By the region’s tie-breaker rules, Laurens earned the fifth seed and will play at Fort Mill at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Softball and tennis open on Thursday, April 23. Soccer begins on April 29 for girls and April 30 for boys.
Laurens is headed to the playoffs in baseball and softball. Clinton is qualified in tennis, softball and boys’ and girls’ soccer.
