A man wanted in Laurens County on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping and abuse of a vulnerable adult has been apprehended in Mississippi.

Joseph Dwain Bryan was charged after a nurse at the JMS Burn Center in Augusta, Ga., contacted the Laurens County Sheriff’s Department regarding concerns about the source of a vulnerable adult patient’s injuries. The patient suffered severe burns to his arm and face.

Deputies executed a search warrant at Bryan’s home and seized numerous items of evidence. Bryan was not home, and deputies issued a search for him that resulted Friday in his arrest.

Three women thought to be in Bryan’s company – Mary Haggy, Kathy Sanders and Lisa Haggy – were apprehended with him, according to foxcarolina.com.

Bryan will be extradited to Laurens County to face charges. No charges have yet been filed against the women traveling with him.
