Angel Johnson scored 13 points and Nyre Calhoun added four, but Hillcrest’s buzzer-beater lifted the Rams to a 29-28 victory over the Laurens junior varsity girls at LDHS on Monday night.

The Raiders withstood a number of shots but had the ball with 4.5 seconds remaining. A turnover on the in-bounds pass gave Hillcrest one last chance that the Rams converted.

 

Hillcrest defeated the LDHS junior varsity boys 42-33 after leading 14-2 after a quarter. Isiah Burnside scored 12 points for the Raiders in a losing cause.

 

The Rams also won the ninth-grade game 35-32. Waldrick Burnside led Laurens with 12

 

Laurens Middle School won its boys’ basketball game against Hickory Tavern, 45-20 behind 16 points from Devon Redd and 11 from K.D. Mosley. Jay Pulley scored eight.

Sanders visits LMS on Thursday.

Faith Jackson scored all but two of the Hickory Tavern girls’ points in a 28-5 victory over LMS.

 

Mia Barr scored six points in a losing cause as Mid-Carolina defeated the Clinton Middle girls, 23-10.
