The opener between them still seems distant – two weeks away, come Friday – but the Laurens Raiders and the Clinton Red Devils are taking every opportunity to prepare for the Aug. 24 football opener at Clinton’s Wilder Stadium.

Still in pads less than a week, both teams will scrimmage on Tuesday. Laurens travels to Greenwood to take on Emerald and Seneca at 10 a.m., and Clinton hosts Ninety Six at 6 p.m.

The Raiders and Red Devils are both involved in the Woodruff Jamboree – Clinton plays Blue Ridge, and Laurens plays Chapman – on Thursday beginning at 5 p.m.

Clinton hosts its jamboree – Saluda vs. Woodruff and Brookland-Cayce vs. the Red Devils – at Wilder Stadium on Friday at 7.

Laurens visits Boiling Springs for a scrimmage at 5:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 14, and both teams are participating in one more jamboree, this won in Williamston and hosted by Palmetto on Friday, Aug. 17.
