Piling up clean victories at the first four singles slots, Clinton swept Newberry, 6-0, in girls tennis on Monday.

Singles: Mary Catherine Dailey (C) defeated Grace Hall 6-0, 6-0. Chandler Dailey (C) defeated Abby Johnson 6-0, 6-0. Gracie Spangler (C) defeated M.G. Morrow 6-0, 6-0. Reese Gowan (C) defeated Summer Karle 6-0, 6-0. Jerri Hill (C) defeated Madeline Coxie 6-2, 6-0.

Doubles: Kaitey Threatt-Grace Johnson (C) defeated Katie Turner-Kylie Mars

6-0, 6-0.

The Red Devils took a 10-2 record, 9-0 in Region 3-3A, in Tuesday’s non-region match at home against Broome.

The Red Devils finished 37th, in a field of over 80 schools and 2,000 athletes, competing in seven races at the Bob Jenkins Coaches’ Classic in Camden on the Carolina Cup grounds on Saturday.

The Clinton boys took part in the International Boys meet, the JV 10-12 grade and JV 7-9 grade races.

The International Boys was made up mainly of Class 5A, 4A and private schools. Only five 3A schools competed.

Clinton times were Zac Bagwell 19:27, Keenan Dominick 19:36, Nick Perkins 19:58, David Wilkie 20:03, William Reid 20:23, Jacob Hawkins 20:30 and James Anderson 20:31.

In the JV 10-12 race, Joey Ardelt ran 20:46, Hayden Minor 20:47, Gaige McWatters 22:11, Campbell Atkinson 22:48 and Caleb Rogers 28:39.

In the JV 7-9 event, Daniel Wyatt ran 20:57, Javi Carles 21:09, Conner Donley 21:45, Joseph Carles 22:46, Sam Gearheart 22:50, Jabari Dillard 25:23, Chris Fortman 25:38 and Elliott King 32:30.

The Red Devil volleyball team picked up its first victory last Thursday, winning a marathon 3-0 match at Newberry.

Clinton (1-12, 1-9) came from two sets down: 11-25, 21-25, 26-24, 27-25, 17-15.

The junior varsity won, also, defeating Newberry, 25-23, 25-19.

The Red Devils fell in straight sets on Monday at home against Emerald.
