In Monday’s “sub-varsity” basketball action, Laurens swept a pair of boys’ games, with the junior varsity defeating Woodmont 42-35 and the ninth graders pulling out a 45-35 verdict.

Isaiah Burnside led the JVs with 19 points. Waldrick Burnside led the ninth graders with 11.

In the JV girls’ game, the Wildcats won 30-16. Laurens scorers were Angel Johnson with seven points, Navia Blanding four, Jamya Chappell three and Cederia Bailey two.

Mid-Carolina's JV girls defeated Clinton 28-23 in Prosperity, though Alexis McGowan scored seven points and Grayson Taylor five for the Wildcats.

Slow starts haunted Gray Court-Owings in a pair of home losses to Mid-Carolina on Monday.

In the boys’ game, Mid-Carolina pulled out to a 25-22 victory after building a 14-3 edge after one quarter. GC-O outscored the Rebels 19-14 the rest of the way.

Mid-Carolina won the girls’ game 36-22 after building a 12-0 lead after one period.

Edgewood defeated the Sanders girls 22-18 in spite of 13 points from Amellion Evans.

Behind 20 points from TyQuavious Johnson and 10 from Gernier Darden, Sanders won the boys' game, 39-34.
