The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a suspect who fled during an investigation of cruelty to animals in Gray Court.

On Monday, the LCSO responded to a request from Animal Control for assistance at 452 Tractor Drive. When Animal Control approached the property, one of the subjects, Lori Lockey, fled the scene.

When deputies arrived, they located two horses, a kitten and a rabbit living in deplorable conditions with little or no food and water. The animals were taken by Animal Control and relocated for their safety

Another person on the property, Stacey Lynn McKenzie of Gray Court, was arrested without incident and transported to Johnson Detention Center.

Lockey hasn’t been located, and the LCSO is asking the public to help in finding her. Both Lockey and McKenzie will face charges for four counts of felony cruelty to animals.

Anyone who has knowledge of Lockey’s whereabouts should contact the Sheriff’s Office at (864) 984-4967 or by calling (864) 68-CRIME.
