The Laurens County Touchdown Club is preparing for another series of presentations to honor outstanding athletes in the county.
The schedule of inspirational speakers isn’t quite complete, but the first meeting, on Aug. 24, features the high school coaches at Laurens District High School, Chris Liner; Clinton High School’s Andrew Webb; and Laurens Academy’s Todd Kirk. All meetings begin at noon and are held on Fridays through the fall at The Ridge at Laurens.
Annual membership of $150 includes a meal and ticket for each of the seven regular meetings and the annual banquet.
The schedule has open slots on Oct. 5, Nov. 16 and Dec. 5 that will soon be filled.
After the Aug. 24 opener, on the day of the Laurens County Championship game between Laurens and Clinton, other speakers already scheduled are:
Sept. 7, Shell Dula, Executive Director of the S.C. Athletic Coaches Association; 21, Tommy Spangler, head football coach at Presbyterian College.
Oct. 19, Hunter Reid, Associate Athletics Director and Sports Information Director at Furman University.
Nov. 2, Brent Thompson, head coach at The Citadel.
The Laurens County Touchdown Club is an activity of the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce.
