Dr. Angela Peters has been named Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Albany (Ga.) State University.
The wife of Dr. Stephen Peters, Superintendent of Laurens County School District 55, she will join the executive leadership team of President Marion Fedrick on Aug. 5.
Angela Peters has worked for 18 years at Claflin University in Orangeburg and as Vice Provost for Academic Programs since 2013. She has also served as a chemistry professor. Among other duties were executive director of the Louis Stokes South Carolina Alliance for Minority Participation and statewide coordinator of the Southeastern Consortium for Minorities.
Stephen Peters said, “Angela and I both see our jobs as ministries and believe in going wherever God takes us. We have long been supportive of each other.”
Angela Peters holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry from Hampton (Va.) University and a Ph.D in biochemistry from the University of South Carolina. She also received a certificate of completion from Harvard University’s management development program.
