The Thanksgiving holiday claimed another crash victim in Laurens County.
The incident occurred on S.C. 49 near Curry Road at about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Marisa Barragan, 18, of Laurens, was driving a 2016 Nissan sedan. The cause of death was blunt-force trauma to the head and body, according to Deputy Coroner Patti Canupp.
According to Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol, the car drove off the left side of Hwy. 49, 1.8 miles north of Laurens, hitting a guardrail and a tree. The victim, who was not seatbelted, was trapped in the vehicle and died at the scene.
The incident is still being investigated.
