Victim identified in fatal wreck on Stoddard Mill Road


A juvenile has been charged with driving too fast for conditions in an incident on S.C. 101 near Gray Court that took the life of a bicyclist at about 7:25 p.m. on Thursday.

A 16-year old, driving a 2015 Nissan, was headed south and ran into a cyclist, who was helmeted and also traveling south. The teen was uninjured. Richard Bouchard, 67, of Simpsonville, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt-force injuries, according to the Laurens County Coroner’s Office.

The incident remains under investigation, according to Trooper Joel Hovis of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
