An Enoree man succumbed to injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash on Tuesday at approximately 6:25 p.m., in northern Laurens County, just 2.2 miles from Woodruff.
According to Chief Deputy Coroner Vickie Cheek, Dude Waters Jr., 52, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed shortly.
Two vehicles, a 1994 Buick sedan driven by a 42-year-old Gray Court woman and a 2014 Jeep SUV driven by a 36-year-old Woodruff woman, were headed south on S.C. 101 when a 2004 GMC pickup crossed the center line and collided first with the Buick and then with the Jeep.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Hwy. 101 and Knighton Chapel Road.
The driver of the Buick was uninjured. The driver of the Jeep and a passenger who was a juvenile were injured and transported by helicopter to Greenville Memorial Hospital. In both vehicles, the occupants were seatbelted and neither ejected nor entrapped in their vehicles.
The driver of the pickup, Waters, wasn’t ejected or entrapped, but he was not wearing a seatbelt.
No charges have been filed, according to Lance Corporal Justin Sutherland of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
