A former student of Laurens Middle School was the guest speaker at eighth grade Career Lunch & Learn this week.
Seth Mycko, who is now a District 5 Fisheries Biologist I with the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, told students about his path from Laurens Middle to the career that he now enjoys.
As a Fisheries Biologist I, with a masters degree from Clemson, some of his duties include habitat enhancement, data collection & analysis, and using a variety of techniques for collecting samples of fish for the departments' studies.
Mycko's presentation encouraged students to pursue a career doing something that interests them and that they appreciate.
Two groups of eighth graders took advantage of this L&L opportunity. Some of the students who attended are pictured (front, from left) Mallory Stover, Zyvier Davis and (back) Trey Dobson, Mr. Mycko, Janichols Woodruff, Bryan Hernandez, Debius Cunningham, Jennifer Salas, Malyka McCanty, Mackenzie Rogers, Randall Cheeks, Trenton Duberry, Briasia Lyons, Kya Spurgeon, and Isiah Davis-Hunter.
