The field is set for the special primaries and election to succeed Mike Pitts as District 14 state representative.
The filing deadline passed at noon on Saturday with four Republicans and two Democrats filing.
The GOP candidates are Grant Blair, Scott Horne, Stewart Jones and Michael Seymour. Running as Democrats are Bobby L. Gregory Sr. and Garrett McDaniel.
Three candidates currently hold public office. Jones and McDaniel are members of Laurens County Council. Seymour has served as a conservation district commissioner for nearly 23 years.
The party primaries are on Feb. 19, and the special election is April 23.
Pitts retired, citing health reasons. He is expected to take over as executive director of the state’s Conservation Bank, a government-run organization.
