Woman charged with taking LSD into detention center

A Greenville woman was arrested on multiple charges, including taking LSD into the Johnson Detention Center, on Wednesday morning by the Laurens Police Dept.

Amber Kayla Smith, 25, of 9 Bagwell Ave. in Greenville, was stopped by the Laurens Police Dept. around 1am on Wednesday morning at the intersection of Fleming St. Ext. and Exchange Dr.

Officers charged Smith with possession of LSD, possession of drug paraphernalia and giving false information to law enforcement.

After being transported to the Johnson Detention Center, Smith was found to have concealed LSD on her person. She was then charged with introducing contraband into a secure facility.

While in the Johnson Detention Center, warrants were served on Smith by the SCHP for speeding, driving under suspension-third offense and giving false information to law enforcement stemming from an incident on May 20, 2017.
