All it took for Connie Jester to win the special Town Council election in Cross Hill on Tuesday was seven votes.
Actually, she had six to spare. Jester was unopposed, and no one marred the results with a write-in. It was the rare occasion where a candidate won an election at the polls by acclamation.
Yes, the turnout – seven out of 285 registered – was low, but it was vividly understandable.
The Laurens County Voter Registration and Election Commission reported no provisional ballots. The election will undoubtedly be certified on Thursday at 11 a.m.
