Ted Goodwin Nash, who played a significant role as a member of Laurens County Council for 16 years, died in his native Fountain Inn on the July 4, 2019, at age 81. He was buried in the city’s Harmony Baptist Church on Sunday, July 7.

He stepped down from his seat in County Council Seat 1 last fall, serving out his term in spite of failing health. M. Kemp Younts was elected to succeed him.

Nash also served on the Western Carolina Sewer Authority board before his election to County Council in 2002. He was a deacon and former treasurer of his church and a member of the Lions Club.

Nash’s wife of 62 years, Joyce, survives him, as well as a son, Ted A. Nash; a daughter, Tammie Nash Younts; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
