Dr. George Ward, School District 55’s Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services, has accepted a position with the Greenville County school system.
Ward will not be replaced due to budget concerns. Superintendent Dr. Stephen Peters said that Ward and others would share duties previously under Ward’s bailiwick.
Last year Ward, former principal for seven years at Sanders Middle School, organized the Dropout Retrieval walk and oversaw the virtual and twilight school programs designed to provide additional means to graduate and lower the district’s dropout rate. He oversaw compliance with federal Title VI (discrimination based on race, color or national origin), Title IX (equal opportunity in education) and Section 504 (discrimination based on disability).
