Anna Stevenson of Laurens has decided to transfer from Auburn University to the volleyball program at the University of Louisville.

As a sophomore at Auburn (12-16, 5-13 Southeastern Conference), Stevenson led the Tigers, coached by Rick Nold, in blocks (91) and fourth in kills. The American Volleyball Coaches Association named her to its All-South Region team early this year. Louisville (22-9, 14-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) is coached by Dani Busboom Kelly.

“Anna is a fantastic addition to our 2019 roster,” Kelly said. “Our entire staff was impressed with her mindset and her drive to be great. She has proved she can physically compete with the best players in the country and is excited about the goals for Louisville volleyball.”

Contacted last week, Louisville Associate Sports Information Director Nancy Worley said she was aware that Stevenson had placed herself in the NCAA’s transfer portal but that no news release had been issued announcing the transfer. That release was issued on Wednesday.

A transfer of Stevenson to Louisville had been reported on several online message boards, and Stevenson’s Twitter page now lists her as “University of Louisville Volleyball.”

At Laurens District High School, Stevenson was Most Valuable Player for all four years on the Raider varsity. She made third team Under Armour High School All-America and was all-region three times. Her AAU team, Upward Stars, won a national championship in 2016.

Louisville’s most recent recruiting class has been ranked No. 16 nationally and first in the ACC.

At Auburn, Stevenson made the the 2018 War Eagle Invitational all-tournament team and was on the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll in 2017-18.
