HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton Pirates rallied to defeat the Presbyterian College women’s basketball team on Tuesday night by a score of 79-62.

Kacie Hall scored a game-high 27 points, including a school-record seven three-pointers, to lead the Blue Hose effort.

Presbyterian built an early 9-0 lead with Hall and Shamani Staford both connecting from behind the arc as well as a layup coming from Salina Virola. Hampton failed to score until the 4:13 mark and were trailing 17-6 after the first. Five different Blue Hose players contributed points in the opening quarter.

Hall sank another three at 7:31 in the second to keep PC ahead by 11 points at 23-12. The Pirates responded with a 30-6 run that stretched into the third quarter and saw the home team leading 42-29 with 8:01 left in the third.

Virola scored six of her 12 points over the game’s final four minutes, but Hampton was able to keep pace with a surging PC throughout the fourth.

PC falls to 4-17 (2-8 Big South) while Hampton improves to 12-9 (8-2 Big South).

The Blue Hose hosts Winthrop on Saturday in a 2 p.m. game that will be the first of a doubleheader with the men’s team.
