The S.C. Independent School Association gets its playoffs under way this weekend, with the Laurens Academy girls playing on Friday and the boys on Saturday.

The opening playoff games are in Columbia at Heathwood Hall Academy. The girls play Clarendon Hall on Friday at 6:30 p.m., and the boys play Dorchester Academy on Saturday at noon.

Laurens Academy enters the Class A bracket as a No. 1 seed in girls and No. 2 in boys. As a result, Clarendon Hall is a No. 4 girls’ seed and Dorchester Academy a No. 3 boys’ seed.

The LA girls (24-3), reigning state champions, are coached by Jason Marlett, the boys (19-9) by Travis Plowden. Both won Region 1 tournament championships.
