SIMPSONVILLE – The good news for Laurens basketball is that the Hillcrest portion of the schedules are over.

The Rams defeated the Raiders 59-53 in boys and 55-44 in girls on Tuesday night.

Of Hillcrest, LDHS has had quite enough. The Rams have defeated the Raiders three time in boys and twice in girls.

Justin Amadi led the Rams with 17 points in the boys’ game, and two others scored in double figures. Amaji Hill paced the Raiders with 13 points. Dravious Copeland added 11 and Christian Anderson 10.

It was no exhibition of free-throw shooting by either team. The Rams converted only nine of 19; the Raiders, two of seven.

Laurens (3-4) hosts Clinton (0-3) on Friday night.

Girls’ coach Yoneko Allen said, “The Lady Raiders put forth a better effort against the Rams but still could not get the victory.”

Kenaja Burnside, Qua Fortson and Diamond Pressley each scored eight points, and Hannah Wiles scored seven to go along with 14 rebounds and two blocks.

The Laurens girls’ record is 1-4, entering Friday’s rematch with Clinton (6-0).
