Wilson deals seven strong in Raiders win over Emerald

Senior AJ Wilson pitched a complete game, two-hitter to give the Laurens Raiders a 4-2 win over the Emerald Vikings on Saturday in Greenwood.

Wilson, getting his first start of the season, allowed two runs on two hits, walking two and striking out seven.

Laurens managed six hits in the game with a double by Ty Foster being the only extra-base hit.

The Raiders put three on the board in the top of the first. Jared Cvetko and Morgan French walked and Ethan Jones reached on a bunt single. All three runners scored after back-to-back singles by Kobe Williams and Nick Howell.

Emerald answered with two runs in the bottom of the first. Two Raider errors and a walk accounted for the Vikings runs and a 3-2 score.

Laurens added their final run in the seventh. Foster doubled and scored on a wild pitch.

Foster, Cvetko, Jones, French, Williams and Howell had hits for Laurens. Williams and Howell added RBIs.

Laurens improves to 9-2 overall and will play at Mauldin on Tuesday, home on Thursday against Woodruff and home on Friday against Mauldin. All games are scheduled for 7:30pm.
