Laurens District High School cross country program picked up victories with both the boys and girls at Ware Shoals.

The boys’ team, as usual led by overall titlist Evan Prince, scored 20 points to the Hornets’ 70.

Trailing Prince across the finish line were Luis Brenna, Jalen Rice, Jackson Edwards and Murphy Rush.

The girls scored 15 points and defeated Ware Shoals and Palmetto Christian.

Vanessa Harshaw won at 25:15, followed by Zoey Sward at 25:24, Ja’Nyiah Jones at 25:48, Dani Prince 31:14 and Madison Villa.

Varsity volleyball fell in a tri-match to Hanna (25-12, 25-2) and Easley (25-19, 17-25, 25-21).

The Easley loss was a tough one. Costly errors near the end of the third set cost the Raiders the match. MacKenzie Ward led LDHS with eight kills, and Rachel Delio added six.

The Raider junior varsity also fell to Hanna (25-14, 25-12) and Easley (25-14, 25-16).

J.L. Mann defeated the Raiders 7-0 in girls' tennis on Tuesday.

A home girls’ tennis match against Easley has been rescheduled for the Raider courts at 5:30 Monday afternoon. The Laurens volleyball teams will make up home matches against Clinton on Monday, beginning at 5:30, and the Raiders varsity will visit Ware Shoals on Tuesday, also at 5:30.
