The Laurens District High School boys’ basketball team must defeat rival Greenwood on the road Friday night in order to earn a slot in the Class 5A playoffs. Meanwhile, the Laurens Academy boys and girls will attempt to advance into the finals of their region tournament elsewhere in that town.

Clinton High’s regular season ended on Tuesday night in Woodruff. The girls’ team will open its Class 3A playoff play in Greenville against Southside on Monday. The boys will take on Chapman in Inman on Tuesday.

The Laurens boys (10-15, 5-8) must defeat the Eagles in order to nail down the fifth and final playoff slot for Region 1-5A. The Raiders won the earlier game against Greenwood (also 10-15, 5-8) 61-60 on Jan. 11.

The Raider girls (6-17, 2-11) have been eliminated from playoff participation.
