New Clinton High School head football coach Corey Fountain is putting what will be his first Red Devil team through the paces of spring practice.
The new coach, who came to Clinton from Lamar, has state championships in common with his new home. The difference is that the Red Devils’ eighth and most recent occurred a decade ago this fall, and the past eight campaigns have all ended with losing records.
The former Laurens assistant compiled a record of 58-10 in five seasons in Lamar, his hometown. The Silver Foxes won Class A state championships in 2015 and 2017.
The Clinton spring game will be on Thursday, May 30.
