Presbyterian College and head men's tennis coach Eduardo Rincon announced the addition of a pair of student-athletes to his 2020 recruiting class. Rincon announces the addition of Daniel Martens (Miami, Fla.) and Alva Caine (Birmingham, Ala.) to the 2020 class. Martens and Caine are set to join Sebastian Dominguez and Javier Matos as newcomers to the roster during the 2020-21 season.  

"I am proud to announce the addition of both Daniel and Alva to our roster for the upcoming season. I consider myself fortunate to have recruited these two great student-athletes during such a challenging time," said coach Eduardo Rincon. "It was very clear to me during the process that both of them want to make our team better and contribute in any way they can." 

Daniel Martens – 6-1, 158 – Miami, Fla. – Miami Palmetto Senior High School

Before PC: He was a 2x FHSAA State Tennis Champion at Miami Palmetto Senior High School… he was an AP Scholar Award honoree… earned the Bright Futures Scholarship Award…

Personal: Born Daniel Martens in Washington, D.C… Chose Presbyterian because it provides a suitable combination of good academics and high level athletics… he intends to major in the STEM field…

Coach Rincon's Comments: "Daniel is a crafty player who was under the radar for a long time. He has been very well coached during his career and his high academic standards and diligence during the recruiting process tells me he will be a great addition to our team. I expect to see him contribute in both the singles and doubles play early on." 

Alva Caine – 5-9, 150 – Birmingham, Ala. – IMG Academy

Before PC: he earned all-state honors during his time at the IMG Academy… he also participated in soccer during his high school year's…

Personal: Born Alva Caswell Caine in Birmingham, Ala. to Alva and Michelle Caine… he chose Presbyterian because of its small and intimate system and the positive reviews he had heard about the school… he intends to major in business administration…

Coach Rincon's Comments: "Alva has an extensive amount of experience from playing at very high levels early on in his home state of Alabama to when he transitioned to the IMG Academy in Florida playing and working with some of the best players and coaches in the industry. He is a fierce competitor and moves very quick around the court. He will gives us a lot of depth moving into this season."
