The Laurens Raiders will move on to the season proper on Tuesday, coming off a 1-2 showing in the Impact Sports Invitational at Spartanburg Christian Academy.

After splitting the first two games, the host Warriors of SCA defeated the Raiders, 63-50, on Wednesday afternoon.

The teams swapped the lead in the first half, with Laurens leading, 14-12, at the end of the first quarter but trailing, 33-32, at the break.

The leading Laurens (1-2) scorer in the first two games, Dee Foster, only scored eight against the Warriors. In fact, no Raider scored in double figures. J.Q. Fair and Leonard Williams each scored nine.

Preston Mahon scored seven points, Chase Jackson six, Dra Copeland five, Joshua Cureton three, Nigi Owens two and Blake Nelson one.

Hillcrest visits LDHS for boys’ and girls’ games on Tuesday.
