Mr. Alexander Douglas was born on July 26, 1946 in Rockingham, N.C., to the late John Douglas and Lula Alice McNeil Douglas. He attended the Scotland County public schools, where he went on become a graduate of Shaw High School in Laurinburg, N.C.
Alexander joined the military early in life and became a veteran of the Army, the Navy, and the National Guard. He was also a former employee of Whitten Center in Clinton.
He was a member of Mt. Cowell Baptist Church in Joanna.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his other siblings.
On Friday, June 7, 2019, at the age of 72, Mr. Douglas entered into Eternal Rest at his home, 491 New Hampshire Circle in Clinton.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his wife of 41 years, Cynthia Smith Douglas, of the home; two sons, Darryl Smith of Clinton and David Douglas of Evansville, Ind.; one daughter, Lorraine (Derrick) Lyons of Fountain Inn; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Willie (Carthenia) Douglas of Laurinburg, N.C.; one sister-n-law, Vicky Oglesby of Spartanburg; two brothers-in-law, Joseph (Beverly) Shelton of Boiling Springs and Johnny (Dorothy) Shelton of Gray Court; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
A Viewing was held on Wednesday, June 14, at Sanders-Thompson Mortuary, 1235 S. Bell St., Clinton.
The Celebration of life is at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, at Sanders-Thompson, beginning at 10 a.m.
