Laurens Academy continued to pile up postseason honors after successful basketball seasons.
In the High School Sports Report’s annual all-star listenings, LA girls’ coach Jason Marlett was named tops in Class A, and Ruthie Moore was overall state Player of the Year, while Jenifer Wu was Class A Player of the Year.
Blair Quarles was named to the all-state team. The Crusaders were 29-3, winning their second straight title.
Noah Moore, from the 19-10 boys’ team, was named to the boys’ all-state team.
Laurens District High put two players on the 1-5A all-region basketball teams, with Christian Anderson making the boys’ team and Qua Fortson the girls.
Anderson averaged 13.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Fortson averaged 13.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 assists.
A Hunter Benson first-inning triple ignited Clinton’s 5-3 softball victory at Spartanburg.
The Red Devils outhit the Vikings 8-5, with Kam Akins and Grayson Taylor each collecting two. Akins also recorded 13 strikeouts on the mound, walking only one.
Clinton visits Mid-Carolina on Friday.

The Laurens junior varsity fell from the unbeaten ranks, absorbing a 7-6 baseball loss to Greenwood when a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh ended the game.
Sulli Pinson turned in six strong innings on the mound as the Raiders defeated Boiling Springs, 6-1.
Jordan Hudson was the winning pitcher as the Laurens “C” team roared past Greenwood, 16-1.
Bryan Diaz scored twice, leading the Laurens “D” boys’ soccer team to a 4-0 victory on the road at Merriwether Middle School.
Josh Romero and Ricardo Hernandez also scored goals for the Laurens middle-school team.
