Eighth-grade students in Fritzi Cole's science classes have been studying Newton's three laws of motion.

As part of this study, they have been designing and making paper rockets. Recently, they launched their rockets using air “pumps” made from a two-liter bottles attached to launchers crafted from PVC pipes. They helped each other and offered suggestions that would impact the rockets' paths and speeds. Students were amazed at the distance and height that their rockets traveled.

After numerous successful launches, Mrs. Cole asked students to apply what they had experienced and learned during this unit of study to write a paragraph about each of the three laws of motion and explain how each one applied to their rocket launches.
